System information: Recommendation for Shop and plentyShop LTS Users

In recent days, we’ve observed a noticeable increase in traffic on some shops, caused by web crawlers from Meta (e.g., Facebook, Instagram). While this is not malicious or unwanted traffic, it can lead to significant additional costs.

Our recommendation:
Merchants who do not use Meta services such as Facebook Shop, Instagram Shop, or other Meta marketing features should block these crawlers from accessing their shop.

How to block Meta’s web crawlers:

1. In your backend, go to: Setup » Shop » (Select client) » SEO » Robots.txt
2. Add the following entry in a free spot within the robots.txt file:

User-agent: meta-externalagent
Disallow: /

3. Save the changes.
